Thank you Dana, for a thoughtful and balanced perspective on a place many of us admire despite its shortcomings. George's piece deserves to be taken seriously, and also I hope, for the sake of existing employees, that IDEO is understood as a complex place that continues to grow.

Anyone who's worked at IDEO has witnessed how the company is often held to a mythical standard, almost as if people want to believe that a workplace Utopia exists. As a straight-white-male I found my time there to be many things, at times: inspiring, stressful, educational, and sometimes lonely. George's piece began to open my eyes to ways that my same experience might have felt very different if I wasn't operating with as much privilege.

IDEO is by no means perfect, but I still believe in its intention.

My hope is that the design community can take in these expanding inputs and embrace the nuance. We pride ourselves on comfort with complexity, I hope we resist the urge to flatten our perspective and cast simple judgement on a complex place.

Thanks again for your balanced perspective on this topic.
